Carnival Legend

Carnival Cruise Lines History

As Carnival Corporation’s flagship brand, Carnival Cruise Lines, founded in 1972, sets the pace as the world’s largest, most popular cruise line (based on carrying about 2.5 million passengers annually). Carnival offers affordable cruise vacations with Fun Ship appeal. Today’s Carnival, a far cry from modest beginnings, defines contemporary cruising with expanded options in dining, children’s programming, spa pampering and shipboard weddings. Carnival’s fleet, composed of six vessel classes, has grown to 20, with more Fun Ships forthcoming, including five on order.

Quick View

Carnival Cruise Lines continues to redefine contemporary cruising with “Today’s Carnival,” a term coined by the line to describe commitment to enhancing all aspects of “Fun Ship” vacation experiences including those aboard the Carnival Legend, a sparkling Spirit Class ship. Embellished with an Internet café for keeping in touch and sending video postcards, “Today’s Carnival” aboard Carnival Legend also has resulted in a diversity of dining enhancements from revamped menus and expanded wine lists to innovations such as a 24-hour pizzeria and a popular Lido-area eatery now including meat-carving and pasta stations, an expansive salad bar, New York-style deli and Asian and Italian specialty venue. Midnight buffets, reflecting changing palates, incorporate lighter fare to complement diversity of hot and cold items. Entertainment options are more varied, too, with dazzling revues featuring lasers, pyrotechnics, elaborate sets and eye-popping costumes presented in a multi-deck show lounge. An impressive array of exercise equipment and pampering treatments await within Carnival Legend’s “Spa Carnival” program, among the world’s largest floating health clubs. Shore excursions have been pumped up to keep pace with today’s active lifestyles, with adventure-type tours such as kayaking, scuba diving and flightseeing complementing more traditional nature walks and city tours.

In 2004, Carnival Legend features east, west, and southern Caribbean itineraries sailing from New York City and Fort Lauderdale. Stateroom amenities
In-cabin amenities baskets, available on all Carnival ships, offer a wide variety of brand-name products for men and women. Additionally, plush terrycloth bathrobes are available for guest use in all ocean-view accommodations.

Kid & Teen Stuff
With the dramatic increase in family cruising – a record 350,000 kids were expected to sail on “Fun Ships” in 2003 – Carnival continues to expand myriad activities, amenities and facilities of the top-rated “Camp Carnival” children’s program. Recent enhancements include high-tech play areas featuring computer labs and indoor climbing mazes, as well as updated children’s menus and a new turn-down service providing kids with freshly baked cookies on the first and last night of their voyage. Plenty of activity is scheduled for teens as well.
